Abstract

|
One hundred and thirty-three strains of Salmonella and 18 of Shigella were isolated from patients visited Kyungpook University Hospital and Taegu Presbyterian Hospital during the period from January through´ December ´1973, and their characteristics were studied.
All strains of Salmonella were typed as Salmonella typhi. Among 18 strains of Shigella, 5 strains were classified as Shigella flexneri la, four as Sh. flexneri 2a, and 9 as Sh. sonnei. A sharp increase in the proportion of Shk sonnei among strains of Shigella was noted.
